Room to Run: Codornices Park

January 07, 2009

Location: Codornices Park, 1201 Euclid Ave, Berkeley (between Eunice and Bay View Place) (Tip: the locals call it CORD-on-ee-sis, instead of CO-DORN-ee-sis)

The main sports field at Codornices is a large expanse, much of it far from the street. It's a great place to bring a kick ball or just yourselves and run around.

Sometimes you can find lots of dogs with their owners, sports practices, or pick-up baseball, softball, or kick ball games, but most often, you'll find no one at all.

Trek to the back of the field and check out the 'hiking' paths or meander over to the big kid and tot lot for some extra fun.

My kid especially likes running through the underground tunnel (or 'nunnel' as he says) that runs from the basketball court area to the Rose Garden/Tennis Courts/Restrooms area.

Check it out! You won't be disappointed.  (Beware of mud after rains though!)
